We’re all about a ‘spirited’ holiday, but don’t forget about the vino! Host an intimate wine-themed holiday party to celebrate the season. With these simple tips, you’ll have an elegant and festive set-up to enjoy with friends.
Our favorite hosting tip: Have guests trade their phone for a glass of wine at the door. The best part about the holidays is enjoying time together, so encourage your guests to embrace the moment and leave their phone at the door so they can spend less time scrolling and more time enjoying the party.
Host or hostess gifts are a give-in, especially during the holiday season. Instead of a gift, ask guests to bring a non-perishable food item, and collect at the door in a basket. Donate the basket of food items to your local food pantry as a way to give back to the community during the holidays.
Now for our favorite wine tips: Allow guests to personalize their glass with these adorable chalk wine glasses. Find these at your local home goods store, or make them yourself by painting the base of a wine glass with chalkboard paint. For the white wine lovers, set out frozen grapes to keep wine chilled without diluting or spoiling the taste.
For your table setting, a few simple elements can go a long way in creating an elegant and festive look. Think of colors, textures and patterns fit for the season. We’re loving this neutral theme with burlap, greenery and special seasonal touches like pears and pine cones to dress it up.
These DIY cork vases are the perfect way to embrace your wine theme and give your table a glow. This simple look can be done by filling a large glass vase half-way with wine corks, and then positioning a candle on top of the wine corks so that the wick of the candle is near the top of the vase. Fill wine corks around the candle to keep it in place, about 3/4 of the way up. Tip: Place the candle in a smaller glass vase to catch wax drippings and ensure your centerpiece is safe!
For your place settings, keep it simple, yet elegant. We’ve layered white plates with these festive appetizer plates for a pop of color. In addition, we’ve set a real pear on each plate to incorporate the seasonal theme.
Don’t forget to personalize each place setting to make your guests feel extra special. We found these adorable burlap bags at our local craft store and simply stuffed them with greenery, tied them with ribbon, and added a personalized name tag to each.
Our favorite part of any party… the food pairings. We’ve set out a variety of items that pair nicely with both white and red wines. For the meats, we have a salami, prosciutto and pepperoni, all thinly sliced. For the fruits, we’ve used both dried and spreadable options for the season, such as a delicious fig jam. For the cheeses, select mild options such as cheddar. And for an extra sweet touch, chocolate pieces – these won’t last long!
With these simple tips, your wine gathering will be a stress-free success. Cheers!
